The Election Is Over, What's Next For Christians?

“Why is it that here in America, we do not see the witchcraft and dark magic seen in Africa?” I asked my friend, a missionary to Africa and South America. What he replied left a profound impact on me, “One nation… under God. On our currency… in God we trust. This country was founded by Christians, on Christian ideals. God has blessed and favored this country."We now have elected a new president over this country. But does the presidency even matter, and if so, what is our next step?

As Christians, politics and governmental ideologies should be one of our top priorities.

All too often, I hear good well-meaning Christians use the misguided opinion that “No matter who wins, God is in control.” God is in control, but in his infinite power, gave man free will and self-determination. God gave you and I the ability to freely choose Him over the world or the enemy. Because at the end of the day, God, who has everything, wanted to be loved. After the fall of man, we were given governments to keep law and order over us (Romans 13) – but this does not insinuate that all governments are automatically good.

EXPOSED: The Truth About the 2020 Presidential Election

We should never forget that Germany, a Catholic Christian democratic nation, freely elected Adolf Hitler (30 million people killed). Russia, an Eastern Orthodox Christian Kingdom revolted against its’ czars and instituted an atheistic, Christian persecuting communist regime (40 million people killed). Dear friends, the government is not our savior (as the people in 1930’s Germany thought Hitler was), but we would do well to always remember that we have a duty to vigilantly elect Christian leaders that represent and protect our values.

With all of that being said, America is coming into a new political era.

We must look towards the future. Atheism is on the rise (20% of the country now identifies as Atheist), and Christianity is being assaulted by pop culture. There will be more elections in the future, and the fight will never end. We must act to seize the momentum we have gained; We must begin to have difficult conversations with people, we must get uncomfortable, and we must be loving.

Christ was about his Father’s business, and he exemplified his father. Christ was patient, loving, kind, and firm when He needed to be. When we are discussing governments with our friends, we must have all of these traits, and be passionate about what we are talking about – because this is our father’s business. We must listen more than we speak. We must never interrupt. And we must genuinely love the other person (even communists…). When it comes to important issues such as abortion, religious freedom, and keeping God at the forefront of our nation, we must be unwavering and uncompromising.

My friends, make no mistake that we are in a precarious time in this nation.

We must make no qualms about the fact that there are evil forces that wish to seize our government. They wish to gain the power that our government possesses and use it for evil – abortion, destroying the family, and globalization (Isn’t there something in Revelation about one ruler ruling over the world?) We must act and do our part, we must be diligent in preserving our nation, and we must reach out. We must set aside our passive ways, we must go out and have difficult conversations, and we must be loving as Christ was.
