EXPOSED: The Truth About the 2020 Presidential Election

What a year 2020 has been. January hit and we were still on a Baby Yoda high with all the merch coming out. Not long after, the year of 2020 vision, the year that we were all beyond excited about, crashed and burned. By mid-March most of the world had gone into a mandatory quarantine due to the pandemic. Then came murder hornets, (Seriously, what happened to them?) and racial tension like we've never seen it before.

Listen to the Good Christian Podcast episode about this post:"The Truth EXPOSED About the Election and Politics"

I don't mean to give you a recap of what has been the toughest year the world has ever faced, but it's important context for what this post is about, and what I believe the entire year has been leading up to; the election. In this post, I am going to expose the truth about the 2020 Presidential Election. Before I spill the big, possibly controversial, truth about the 2020 election, it's important that we all understand this big point I'm going to share. (I promise I'm not stalling, this is important.)

First, one big point we all must understand:

We still need to love one another during this time. We need to stop being so harsh to our neighbors. Relationships getting destroyed over politics deeply saddens me. It all stems from a lack of love and empathy for one another. If you truly valued those around you, you'd also value their opposing opinion about a presidential candidate.I'm going to confess something to you in this post. In the past, I've prioritized sharing my political views, and getting people to vote the way I'm voting over sharing the love of Jesus with people. Four years ago I was a different person - And I am very sorry for the way I acted around many people. My focus should have been serving others, and loving them like Jesus does. Instead, it was about voting my way, then Jesus would be after that.

This was very wrong, and again - I am sorry about this.

If you're thinking to yourself, "Uh-Oh, this sounds a lot like me right now..." I encourage you to do some soul searching. Give this to God, because I can guarantee you that this has you out of balance. You're going to feel less stressed, less angry and less anxious if you re-align with God being first.Okay, I'm glad we got that out of the way, are you ready?

The Truth About the 2020 Presidential Election EXPOSED:

God is still God no matter who is president.BOOM! Did you catch that? Let me repeat it. God is still God no matter who is president.God is not going to be surprised by who ends up being president. And in fact, He doesn't care as much as we (humans) do. His will is still going to happen no matter what.Don't just read through that last sentence, really think about that... God's will is still going to happen no matter who the president of the United States of America is.While I was reading the Bible yesterday, God brought me to a scripture that ended up bringing me to this revelation, Isaiah 2:22:

"Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem?"

While I was reflecting on this verse, God showed me the power behind it. "Stop trusting in mere humans who have but a breath in their nostrils." What God showed me about this is that no man has their next breath without His hand. (If we really believe that God is the creator of all things, then we must believe this.)If that is the case, and the next breathe ANYONE takes is from God, why hold people in such high esteem? This includes the man (or woman) who is the leader of the free world. They yet remain, only a human, not a God.

Friends, the truth about the 2020 presidential election is that it's not as important as we've made it seem.

I'm not saying don't vote, in fact, I'm a huge proponent of voting and believe every American citizen should. What I am saying is that we need to stop letting this consume our thoughts and dictating our actions. You're not going to get to heaven one day and have God tell you, "Well son, I had big plans for your life, but then the dumb American people elected the wrong president and messed it all up!" No, that isn't going to happen.

Here's what I'm telling you to do about the 2020 presidential election:

Stand up for what you believe in, have loving conversations with others about it, pray about it, and of course, do your part and vote. I posted on my personal social media accounts last week this quote:

"The only thing needed for the world to burn is for Christians to sit back and watch."

Once you've done your part, stop. Get back to the ultimate fact of life, which is that God is fully in control. He is the King of all things.

This is what God has called you to do:

Like Jesus, who didn't get much into politics... Like, at all. We are to "be about our Father's business." What is that business? To love God and to love people. Have you actions reflected these two greatest commandments that God has called every believer to?I leave you with this challenge: Keep the 2020 presidential election in perspective. Keep the main thing the main thing. Before I end this post, if you're still unsure of who to vote for or confused by this post, I encourage you to take the quiz listed on the following page. If you do know who you're voting for, use this page as a guide: How Christians Should Navigate the 2020 Election.
